Oviedo Real Estate
Oviedo is a town known for its rich history and heritage. Originally, the area was inhabited by the Timucua, a group of Native Americans who were part of the Seminole tribe. Today, little remains of this early Native American settlement. The modern city of Oviedo began to take shape just after the Civil War in 1865. This is when homesteaders, including former slaves and Swedish immigrants, came to the area to begin new lives along the shores of Lake Jesup. Soon the Lake Jesup Community was formed, which decades later became Oviedo as we know it today. This beautiful community of welcoming neighborhoods, great schools, world-class shopping and dining is all a short commute to the excitement of Orlando.
Located in eastern Seminole County, Oviedo is a friendly and welcoming town in which to enjoy the Florida lifestyle to the fullest. With a population of about 26,000, Oviedo offers a number of public parks and recreational programs, including a gymnasium and aquatics center, tennis and racquetball courts, softball, baseball, soccer and football fields, a skate park, fishing and nature trails. There is also an impressive equestrian facility which boasts a show ring and conservation area. All of these attributes have contributed to Oviedo's growth, with its newest offering being Oviedo Place, a project of single-family homes, townhomes, condos, shops, and business scheduled to be completed in 2012/2013. The town's strong sense of community spirit can be felt in its two major festivals, "Great Day in the Country" and "Taste of Oviedo."
